Autumn Activities

Today is the 1st October and many would say it’s now ‘officially’ Autumn.  This is by far my favourite time of year.  As a keen photographer I love all the colours on the leaves and the glow of the beautiful Autumn sunlight.  Wrapping up cosy in the crisp cold weather with dazzling blue skies above makes for a perfect doggy walk as far as I’m concerned!

Autumn is a great time of year to do some natural arts and crafts as well as exploring outdoors. My kids love throwing the leaves around, playing conkers and collecting acorns.  Here are some fab Autumn activities my blogging friends have come up with.

*Kerry has come up with this fab leaf inspired bonfire picture which I absolutely adore!  Check out her post with some more ideas here: http://blissfuldomestication.com/2017/09/24/outdoor-autumn-activities-to-do-with-kids/

*Sarah came up with this gorgeous leaf lantern which is perfect for my living room as I love candles!  For a child safe option use battery powered tea lights.  You can see how she made it plus some other fab Autumn crafts on her post here: http://digitalmotherhood.com/2017/09/26/3-easy-autumn-crafts-to-do-with-kids/

*Chloe came up with this fab outdoor scavenger hunt to do with her daughter Evie and has kindly made it free to download and print yourselves!  How many items can your children find on the list?  Find the link here http://www.lifeunexpected.co.uk/autumn-scavenger-hunt-free-printable/

*Katie had the idea of making a bug hotel.  I think this is great for little creepy crawlies to be able to keep warm over the cold months ahead.  Check out her post with some other ideas here http://livinglifeourway.com/nature/30-days-wild/activities-for-autumn/

Last year I bought some Halloween craft kits from Sainsburys which the kids loved.  They made pumpkin masks and Halloween door hangers for their bedrooms.  The craft sets were really easy to use and had the added bonus of being mess free.  Keep an eye out in local shops for halloween and autumn craft sets.  I found them very handy for entertaining the kids in October half term last year while I was making the dinner.  Of course you can always make your own out of whatever craft items you have at home!
