Well half term just came out of nowhere didn’t it?! I’m a little late on things this time around but here’s my list of what’s on in Oxfordshire May half term 2023.
Monday 29th May
- Harwell Feast 11am-4pm at Harwell Recreational Ground. This starts with a the annual parade through the village which sets off from Townsend at 11am. Tickets are £4 per adults, children free.
Tuesday 30th May
- Children’s art and craft workshop at Vale & Downland Museum in Wantage 10:30am-12pm. Decorate your own treasure chest to take home. £10 per child, suitable for age 7+. Book here.
- Brass Rubbing at Vale & Downland Museum 10am-12pm. FREE drop in event, donations welcome.
- Spring story time and craft at Didcot Library 10:30-11:30am. Free event aimed at 4-8 year olds. Places must be booked in advance by calling the library.
- Learn about meadow habitats and create your own meadow in art. Handle specimens who make meadows their homes. Oxford University Museum of Natural History 1-4pm FREE drop in event.
- Table tennis and multisports fun day at Wheatley Play Area (OX33 1QH) 2-4pm. FREE drop in.
- Xplorer family orienteering event at Kidmore End Memorial Hall Field, Sonning Common 10am-12pm. FREE drop in.
- Make your own paper plants at Cornerstone Arts Centre 11am. Suitable for 5-11 year olds. Book here.
Wednesday 31st May
- Pesky Pirates Family Day at Vale & Downland Museum 10-12pm and 1-3pm. £6.50 per child. Enjoy pirate crafts, storytelling, music and treasure trails. Fancy dress widely encouraged. Book here.

- Mr Sprouts Disco at Sprouts Play Barn (Millets Farm) 6-8pm. Book tickets here.
- Look at Cambrian fossils and create your own in a drawing style ‘consequences’ game. Poet and children’s writer Penny Boxall will be on hand to help kids get creative with their creature descriptions. 1-3:30pm at Oxford University Museum Of Natural History. FREE drop in event.
- Comedy Club for kids at Cornerstone Arts Centre 2pm. Book tickets here.
Saturday 3rd June
- Elmer story time and craft at Didcot Library 2pm. FREE drop in event aimed at 3-7 year olds.

- Big Bale Play at High Lodge Farm (Culham) 27th May – 3rd June 10am-4pm daily. Tickets are £5 for kids, £3 adults online in advance (£1 more on the gate). Over 200 giant straw bales set up as a maze, separate under 5s bale area with wheelbarrows and sand pit, tractor, outdoor games and refreshments. Tickets bookable here: High Lodge Farm
- Hendreds School trail 27th May-4th June. Trail sheets can be purchased from Hendred Stores (East Hendred) for £2. Complete the trail and return your sheet to the shop for a chance to win a prize. All proceeds go to the school.
- East Hagbourne Scarecrow Trail 13th May-4th June. Maps cost £1 and are available to purchase from the village shop or The Fleur pub.
- John Lawsons Circus is at Millets Farm 28th May-3rd June 10am, 12:30pm and 3pm. Unicycling, juggling, aerial skills and more. Book tickets here.
- Once Upon A Unicorn and Dragons at Fairytale Farm 27th May-4th June. Explore the brand new fairy dell, make mythical crafts, puppet shows, complete the Knight’s Quest trail, meet the Unicorn Queen and more.
