Farmer Carter’s Courtyard at Millets Farm

Child riding on green pedal tracotr with trailor on the back at Millets Farm

We were very lucky to be invited along to visit Farmer Carter’s Courtyard at Millets Farm today and we had a blast! The Courtyard is open throughout the Easter holidays with a range of outdoor entertainment. You’ll find plenty of quiz trails, games, ride ons and more for all the family to enjoy.

When you arrive at Farmer Carter’s Courtyard you’ll be given a welcome pack with a quiz trail book, sheet of stickers, magnifying glass, pack of seeds and a flying model bird to build. The booklet is important as this is what you’ll use for the different quizzes and trails. There are 7 of them to complete in total. We particularly liked the stamps up on the wooden fortress.

I think the highlight of any visit here for Baby Bear is the ride on tractors – he loves them! There is a bit of a slope at the back which he loves to go flying down on a tractor. The pretend fuel pump adds to pretend play. He could literally stay in this area for hours.

For the bigger kids there are pedal go karts at the furthest end. Some of the go karts have 2 seats so an adult can ride with a smaller child. They are so much fun! We spent ages racing each other around the track (although please be aware that in busier periods you should limit your time to 5 minutes). Big Bro LOVES these pedal go karts and obviously Baby Bear had a blast riding in the side car with him.

Next to the go karts is a small woodland area with a cute mud kitchen and little wooden house. Lots of little ones were enjoying making mud pies, wear wellies! There’s also a very cool woodland tractor that Baby Bear loved climbing on and pretending to drive. It’s very cute!

Through the woodlands you’ll find a castle maze, large tractor tyres for climbing and some games. We enjoyed getting lost in the maze and trying to race each other to the exit. It’s quite easy to see little ones, especially from the viewing points and isn’t too big so you can safely let littles have a go themselves.

In the other woodland areas you’ll find several more quizzes, a large sand pit and a large teepee to explore. The diggers in the sand pit are of course very popular!

In the main Courtyard area are lots of little wheelbarrows and a farmyard area. There are pretend pigs, cows, sheep and a donkey. Baby Bear loved filling his wheelbarrow with straw and taking it to the animals. There are also trays of play food that he liked to ‘feed’ the animals too. An added bonus is the large cow with working udders! The kids especially loved taking it in turns to milk the cow! I love the fact they got to learn about where milk comes from through play.

Also in the courtyard you’ll find some fun games to play including mini golf, bean bag catapult, skittles, a large sand pit, giant jenga, giant connect 4 and more. Simple but effective, I love the imagination behind these enjoyable family games.

Farmer Carter’s Courtyard is open at Millets Farm 1st-15th April 2023 (closed on Easter Sunday). There are 2 sessions per day which are 9:30am-12:30pm and 1:30-4:30pm. Prices range from £4.50-£7.50 per person, under 2s get in free. The recommended age range is 4-10 year olds which I would agree with (although I took kids aged 3, 9 and 12 and they all had a great time!). We had a lovely afternoon and felt this event is good value for money. All in all we highly recommend it!
