Following on from yesterday’s walk and search for the painted rocks, today we decided to make our own rocks to hide for others to find!
Lacking somewhat in the correct paint and sealant we opted for the cheat version of Sharpie pens. They don’t look quite as good as the beautiful painted one we found yesterday but the kids were happy.
Next we put on our wellies and headed off again with Willow to hide our rocks. The kids found some good hiding places for them and spread them out as much as possible.
They had great fun playing games in the leaves making leaf angels, nests and having leaf fights.
When we got home we have our hands a good wash and got stuck in to making homemade burgers. The kids absolutely loved getting stuck in with their hands. They really enjoy helping me in the kitchen and always ask if they can help cook dinner so this was a really fun way for them to get involved. We used beef mince from the butcher and a packet of Schwartz american smokehouse mix to give them some flavour. The kids then took it in turns to make their own burger and we put them under the grill.
The burgers were a big hit and all 3 kids happily demolished them in record timing. Such a simple idea and so easy to do but what a great way to get kids in the kitchen and involved with how their food is made. In the past we’ve also made homemade chicken nuggets which I also recommend.
