Jack And The Beanstalk at The Corn Exchange

We were very excited last week to have been invited (AD) to the opening night of Jack and The Beanstalk at The Corn Exchange in Newbury. We’ve been to Christmas pantomimes at The Corn Exchange before and really enjoyed them, this year’s didn’t disappoint!

The show follows the traditional tale of Jack selling the family cow for some magic beans. He then climbs the beanstalk to the Giant’s castle along with his panto friends, but how do they defeat the Giant?! No spoilers here!

The cast did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life in this fun-filled show. There are jokes and frolics galore as well as plenty of audience participation. We had a blast, even the teenagers loved it! Baby Bear’s favourite character was Jack, whereas my favourite was devious Fleshcreep (pictured below).

I took my 4 kids aged 3-15 years to the evening performance. I’m afraid I can’t actually remember how long the show is in total (oops!) but there is an interval half way through and all of my kids sat through the whole thing fine, even the 3 year old. The characters are so engaging and the sets are fabulous. You’ll be entranced from start to finish!

The Corn Exchange is really easy to get to and there is a council car park right next to it (with a KFC, which was handy for dinner before we went to the show!). Car parking is only £2 after 6pm so ideal if you go to an evening performance. There are toilet facilities and drinks/snacks available to purchase from The Corn Exchange too.
