Halloween has arrived at High Lodge Farm with their annual spooky trail and pumpkin patch! We were lucky to be invited along last weekend to check out this year’s event. We lucked out with the weather and enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon up on the farm, exploring the spooky woods and taking advantage of all the fab photo opportunities in the pumpkin patch. Let’s face it, we all want those pumpkin patch pics!
On arrival at High Lodge Farm we were given a trail sheet to guide us through the woods. There are 10 letters to find and 8 different cats. Look high and look low, they are hidden everywhere! There are lots of surprises to spot along the way too. Unscramble the letters to reveal the spell.
I love the effort the High Lodge Farm team put into making all the props. The farm is ran by 4 sisters and it has an authentic, family run feel to it that I just adore. It’s simple, farm life fun at its best. Let the kids roam around the woods, climb hay bales, haul pumpkins around in mini wheelbarrows – love it!
A new addition this year is the brand new tractor barrel ride. This costs £3 per person and lasts around 6-7 minutes. While on the ride, try to spot the different potion ingredients. The barrels are big enough for adults to ride so you can join in the fun with your little ones. To ride, children must be aged 3 years+. My kids loved it!
As well as photo opportunities around the pumpkin patch, you’ll find lots of games to play with your family. These are all made by the High Lodge Farm team and again highlight how simple family games are so much fun! We enjoyed the ring toss, noughts and crosses, snakes and ladders and more.
If you get peckish during your visit, the Toot trucks have a variety of food and drinks available to purchase. Hot food options include burgers, hot dogs and more. You can also toast giant marshmallows on the campfires.
The Verdict
We really enjoyed our visit to High Lodge Farm and think it’s a lovely place to visit for all generations. Remember to dress for the weather and definitely wear welly boots. I wouldn’t recommend taking a buggy as it gets very muddy, instead use a baby carrier. Entry cost £5 per adult and £7 per child, Under 1s are free. Parking is also free and there is no time limit so you can stay as long as you like. You can pick from a variety of pumpkins to take home with you at the end of your visit. Don’t forget to say the spell words in order to claim a sweet treat before you leave!
