Whats On In Oxfordshire October Half Term 2020

Half term is upon us and for the first time since March I actually have some events to tell you about, yippee!! This list is far from finished as I keep finding new events. It seems every village across the land is holding some sort of trail or scavenger hunt for half term, so keep checking back to see what’s been added. Have a great week!

Wednesday 28th October

  • Hallowsteam event at Didcot Railway Centre. Dress up and take a ride on the steam train to the spooky Victorian station. Halloween trail, gift for every child in fancy dress and lots of activities. Tickets must be pre-booked.

Friday 30th October

  • Halloween baking with Mrs Bun The Baker 10am. Make your own graveyard cake and eye balls or witches fingers in this online baking class. Buy tickets here: Graveyard Cake
  • Halloween feast cook-a-long with Mrs Bun The Baker 3:30pm. Online cooking class. Buy tickets here: Halloween Feast

Saturday 31st October

  • Hallowsteam event at Didcot Railway Centre. Dress up and take a ride on the steam train to the spooky Victorian station. Halloween trail, gift for every child in fancy dress and lots of activities. Tickets must be pre-booked.
  • Family friendly low-noise fireworks display at Abingdon Airfield. Gates open 4:30pm. Xplosive Events.
  • Spooky Circus Walk-Through with circus performers, scary fun foods, spooky side stall games, etc. £4.50 per person. Tickets must be booked in advance at Ynot Treat Yourself
  • Pumpkin carving at the Station Garden in Didcot from 3pm. Prizes for best fancy dress and scariest pumpkin. Booking essential as numbers limited.

Sunday 1st November

Daily events

  • Halloween at Stonor Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November 10am-4pm. Halloween trail and pumpkin carving. Children win a sweet at the end of the trail. Tickets must be booked in advance.
  • Scavenger hunt round Cholsey Monday 26th October – Sunday 1st November. Solve 10 riddles around the village to discover the secret password. Registrations will then be entered in to a prize draw to win a Halloween themed goodies. £5 for the pack which includes the official hunt map, the first riddle, a spot the pumpkin challenge sheet, trick or treat scavenger hunt cards to set up your own indoor hunt at home as well as some tasty pumpkin recipe ideas.
  • Ewelme Halloween trail. Maps available from the village shop. £3 for the trail map, activity sheet and a chocolate treat. Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November.
  • Wallingford Creatures Trail Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November fundraising for St Johns Primary School. £2.50 per trail map. Purchase online here: Creatures Trail
  • Chilton Scarecrow Trail ‘We’re Going On A Bug Hunt’. Find the 38 bugs around the village and solve the anagram to be in with a chance to win a Fairytale Farm family pass. Maps are £1 and can be purchased from Chilton Garden Centre. Saturday 24th – Friday 30th October.
  • The Wild Witch’s Half Term Trail will be taking place daily at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre 10am-2pm. Follow the circular route to learn about wildlife and help the witch brew her magic potion. The trail takes approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete. Pre-booking essential as spaces limited. This event is not pushchair friendly. £3 each. Monday 26th – Thursday 29th October.
  • Ladygrove Halloween Trail in Didcot. Self-led trail, free to take part. Find the map here: Ladygrove Halloween Trail
  • Haunted Hagbournes Halloween Trail near Didcot Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November. Self-led walk around the villages to find the spooky characters.
  • Halloween trail and pumpkin carving at Stonor. Tickets must be booked in advance via their website. Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November.
  • Hendreds Halloween Gardens Trail 16th October – 2nd November. Trail maps can be purchased for £1 from Hendred Stores.
