Ready for a fun-filled half term week? I’m planning to put our National Trust memberships to good use and try out some of the trails. Fingers crossed for dry weather, we are not wet weather souls, sorry! If it is wet though we’ll head to some of the local museums instead. It’s always worth looking to see what’s on as many of them have special events during the school holidays. For those of you who are local, here’s what’s on in Oxfordshire during February half term 2023:
Monday 13th February
- Lego club at Vale & Downland Museum in Wantage 10-11am and 11:30-12:30pm. £3 per child, suitable for ages 4-10 years. Must be booked in advance as spaces are limited. Book here.
- Toddler Tunes at Vale & Downland Museum 10-10:30am. Traditional songs and rhymes with music played on a variety of instruments. Suitable for under 5s. £2 per child, adults go free. Book your space here.
- Ocean World at Oxford University Museum of Natural History 1-4pm. Make some ocean themed crafts to take home. FREE event, no booking required.
- Build -A-Buddy at Millets Farm. Create your own stuffed themed toy to take home, followed by craft, sing-a-long and story time with juice and biscuit. Suitable for over 5s, tickets cost £19.99 per child. Find out more and book here.
- Fire engine themed story time and craft at Kidlington Library 10-11am. FREE event but places are limited so call 01865 373067 to book.
- Xplorer family orienteering event at St Edmunds Park (Didcot) 10am-12pm. FREE, no booking required.

Tuesday 14th February

Thursday 16th February
- Wacky Wizardry at Vale & Downland Museum 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. Hear magical stories and have a go at some crafts including making wizard hats, wands and spell scrolls. Fancy dress very welcome. £5 per child. Book here.

- Family walks at Harcourt Arboretum 1-2pm and 2:30-3:30pm. FREE entry to YouMove card holders, otherwise standard admission applies.
Friday 17th February
- Children’s brush parties at Millets Farm. Children will be given supplies and tuition to create their own 16″ x 12″ canvas painting. Suitable for children aged 6+. Tickets cost £23.99 per child. More details available here.
- Mini Makers baking class at Millets Farm 9:30-12pm and 1:30-4pm. Create some seasonal sweet and savoury treats to take home. £29.99 per child and accompanying adult (please note the accompanying adult will need to assist their child with making their treats. - Police themed story time and craft at Wantage Library 10:30-11:30am. FREE event but please book your place by calling 01235 762291.
Ongoing Events
- Dig! archeological experience for kids at Oxford Castle and Prison 10:30-11:30am daily. Dig for archeological finds, make a replica coin or mosaic tile and learn about genuine items found on the castle site. Recommended for children aged 5-1 years, £12 per child. Book here.
- Once Upon A Dinosaur at Fairytale Farm 11th-19th February. Meet the resident dinosaurs in dinosaur valley, uncover fossils in the dino dig, dino themed crafts, dino disco, meet the new dinosaur hatchling and its trainer, jurassic trails and more. Standard entry fee applies.
- One World Family Festival at the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) Saturday 11th- Sunday 12th February 12-4pm. Celebrate the different communities and faiths in Oxfordshire through activities, performances and crafts. Including Bollywood dancing, yoga, Jewish Musical medley, Iraqi fashion show and more.
