Last weekend we were kindly invited along to visit High Lodge Farm and their new Halloween event. This is their second year of hosting a Halloween trail and pumpkin patch. We previously visited in May half term for their Big Bale Play which we LOVED!
High Lodge Farm is becoming well known for its good value, simplistic outdoor fun. There are no frills here and I LOVE it for that. It’s just good old outdoor fun in a safe environment with hay bales to climb, sand boxes to play in and giant wooden garden games to enjoy. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere where you feel you can just hang out all day with your friends, enjoying the food vendors and letting the kids run riot.
On arrival for the Halloween event we were given a trail sheet and pencil each. We headed to the woods to start our Halloween trail. There are two parts to this. One is to find all 9 of the hidden letters and unscramble them to work out the secret password. The second part is to find the objects around the woods which are picture on the trail sheet.
We had a great time exploring the woods and seeing all the spooky characters and decorations. This isn’t a scary trail so young children should be fine. My youngest is 4 and he loved it. There are no live characters to be afraid of.
After completing the trail in the woods we headed through the sunflower graveyard. We thought the skeleton in the toilet was hilarious!
At the bottom of the sunflower field you enter the main field where the pumpkin patch, hay bales, food vendors and games are. We paid £1 each to toast giant marshmallows on a campfire. The kids then played on the hey bales and we challenged each other to giant noughts and crosses.
Once we’d finished playing we explored the pumpkin patch. There are lots of photo opportunities around the patch. The kids also loved using the mini wheel barrows to transport their pumpkins around. There are adult sizes wheelbarrows and sledges too!
At the exit there is a wooden table with round holes to measure the size of your pumpkin so you can see how much it will cost. They were average prices, similar to most pumpkin patches. If you completed your Halloween trail sheets you can also pick up a sweet treat on your way out as well.
We had a really lovely time at High Lodge Farm Halloween trail and thing its well worth a visit. Adults cost £5, Children £7 and under 1s are free. Parking is also free and there is no time limit so you can stay as long as you like. There are plenty of picnic benches under cover so you can sit and watch the kids play.
