I don’t normally post on here about anything political or on the news but last night’s terror attacks hit a raw nerve. The beautiful city of Barcelona and coastal town of Cambrils both fell victim to attacks on their people by mindless terrorists last night in a series of attacks that shocked the world.
It particularly hit a nerve with us as my Grandparents live nearby and were in fact in Cambrils having dinner with my sister only 2 nights before the attack. We walked around this lovely town when we visited my Grandparents back in May and enjoyed wandering around the shops, looking at the boats in the harbour and soaking up the atmosphere of this lovely spanish town. It isn’t a well known tourist destination like it’s neighbour Salou so I am shocked such a big terrorist event has happened there. It is also frightening to think it could have happened while we were there or 2 nights ago when my sister and grandparents were there.
You see that’s the thing these days. You aren’t really safe anywhere. Even in a quiet little Spanish town which would be the last place you’d expect terrorists to attack you just don’t know what’s going to happen next. It’s a very very scary world we live in and so sad that people can’t just enjoy their holidays and a walk along the promenade. None of those people deserved to die. None of them. It could have happened any time to any one of us. It all just boils down to luck. Luckily none of our family friends were there at the time and I am so grateful for that but my heart goes out to those who have lost a loved one last night or were involved in such tragic events. We send our love and ask you to stay strong. Terrorism will not win xx
