The Slippery Sloth Book Review

The Slippery Sloth book held by soft toy sloths

The Slippery Sloth children’s picture book is written by author Chris Quelch. It tells the story of Slippery who was born with short claws and couldn’t climb trees like the other sloths. Poor Slippery gets teased by the other sloths who swing in the trees above him making up silly songs about him. Thankfully The Slippery Sloth has a porcupine as his best friend called Paul. Can Paul help Slippery to climb trees? You’ll have to read the book to find out!

The Slippery Sloth is a glossy children’s picture book with 18 pages. The illustrations are delightful and I love the way the words dance around the page in different ways in-keeping with the story line. For example the words read downwards as he slides down the tree. It’s very cleverly presented! This is a lovely story of friendship and one we really enjoy as a bedtime story. I’ve noticed on the author’s website you can also purchase free downloadable colouring sheets which match some of the pages in the book!
