The Old Farm Shop

The Old Farm Shop at Milton Hill is a lovely family run business selling fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs and home made bakes. There is a small shop on site with a huge variety in it to choose from, all home grown or locally sourced. They also do regular home deliveries of seasonal veg boxes which are popular too.

The best bit for us though is that when you visit the shop you can also see lots of the animals at the farm. They have chickens, ducks, highland cows, pigs, goats and sheep to see. I took Baby Bear to visit earlier this week while the big kids were at school and he loved it!

I think its actually the first time he has seen a real chicken and he was fascinated by them. We of course had to say hello to every single one of them which took quite some time. “Hello chicken, how are you?, Hello chicken, how are you?, Hello…….”

As well as chickens we met the goats, sheep and highland cows. How amazing do highland cows look?! Love them! The pigs made Baby Bear laugh as they were fast asleep and snoring!

Did I mention the toy tractors? Yep they have some ride on tractor toys which were a huge hit on our visit. In fact he didn’t want to leave it alone and rode ‘his’ tractor along the track to see all the animals. There is also a lovely adventure play frame surrounded by picnic benches. Grab a drink and a cake or an ice cream from the farm shop to enjoy while the kids let of steam!

The highlight at this time of year (April) is seeing the baby lambs. There are several different breeds of sheep at The Old Farm Shop and so many cute little lambs.

The Old Farm Shop has some fantastic home grown and local produce to enjoy as well as yummy cakes and pastries. It’s also a lovely place to enjoy seeing the animals but please remember this is not a farm park. Although it is free to go and see the animals, it is for customers only. Please make sure you make a purchase in the farm shop and support this great local business. Top tip – the ice cream they sell is delicious!
