Events In Oxfordshire October Half Term 2021

Half term is upon us and it’s so exciting to see so many fun events in Oxfordshire for Halloween this year! I’ve put together a list of as many as I could find but if you know of any more please feel free to send me the details to mumsfamilyfun@outlook.com and I’ll add them on. Saturday 23rd October

  • Halloween party with Play2Give at Wallingford Sports Park 7pm. £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for children. Utopia disco with games, prizes, raffle, hot food, snacks and bar. Fancy dress optional. All proceeds go to Play2Give.

Sunday 24th October

Monday 25th October

  • The Science Of Magic show at the Museum Of Oxford 10am or 11:30am. An entertaining show exploring the science behind your favourite magic tricks. Suitable for children aged 7-11. £5 per person.

Tuesday 26th October

Wednesday 27th October

  • Halloween craft sessions at Wantage Library 9:30-10:30am or 11-12pm. Suitable for ages 5+. Book your free tickets by calling 01235 762291.

Thursday 28th October

  • Kidlington and Gosford Zoo Trails official opening event 2pm. Activities from 12pm onwards in and around Exeter Hall (Kidlington).
  • Beastly Bones activities at Museum Of Oxford 2pm or 3:30pm. Make your own skeleton puppet, handle medieval bones and more. Free (suggested donation of £1 to cover art materials).
  • Charity coffee morning at Didcot Civic Hall 10am-4:30pm. Drop in any time to enjoy some tasty treats and support local charity Play2Give as well as Coeliac UK.
  • Halloween Family Day at the Vale & Downland Museum 10-12pm and 1-3pm. Creepy crafts and spooky stories. £5 per child, adults free.

Friday 29th October

  • Autumn Scavenger Hunt in Abbey Gardens (Abingdon) 10-11:30am. Free community event aimed at preschool age children. Siblings welcome. Register in advance here: www.nct.org.uk/abingdon
  • Spooky Halloween party at Sprouts Play Barn 6-8pm. Lights down low, music playing and prizes for best fancy dress. Tickets must be booked in advance.

Saturday 30th October

  • Halloween Story Time at Wantage Library 10:30-11am. Suitable for ages 5+. Fancy dress encouraged. Book your free tickets by calling 01235 762291.
  • Family Halloween Disco at the Marlborough Club (Didcot) 7:30pm. £1.50 per person.
  • Halloween Hoot at Millets Falconry Centre 4:30-6pm. Get up close and personal with the owls in this bird of prey experience. £15.99 per person.
  • Spooky Halloween party at Sprouts Play Barn 6-8pm. Lights down low, music playing and prizes for best fancy dress. Tickets must be booked in advance.

Sunday 31st October

  • Drive In movie night at Boundary Park (Didcot). Casper the Friendly Ghost at 4pm and Ghostbusters at 7pm. £18 per car including goody bag, up to 5 headsets and entry to the prize draw for best fancy dress/dressed car.
  • Halloween Hoot at Millets Falconry Centre 4:30-6pm. Get up close and personal with the owls in this bird of prey experience. £15.99 per person.

Daily Events

  • ‘Once Upon A Scarecrow’ trail in Chilton 23rd-30th October. Maps available from Chilton Garden Centre for £1 each. Find the letters on the scarecrows to solve the anagram and enter the prize draw.
  • Harry Potter Trail in Wantage 22nd – 30th October. Trail maps available from Wantage library. Follow the trail to decode the hidden message and be entered into the prize draw.
  • Dino Jungle at Cutteslowe Horticultural Therapy And Garden Centre throughout October. Find the dinosaurs around the jungle in the Butterfly House and aviary, compete with mist and sound effects. £2 per child, £1 per adult, open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-4pm. Miniature railway in the park also running on Sundays (£1.25 per ride).
  • Waterperry Gardens scarecrow trail 16th-31st October 10am-5pm. Find the 10 spooky scarecrows around the gardens and collect a prize. £2.50 per child, normal admission for adults applies.
  • Halloween at Blenheim Palace 22nd-21st October. Illuminated haunted woods, Fire dancers, pumpkins and decorations galore as well as some special tasty treats. More details on their website here: https://www.blenheimpalace.com/
  • The Haunted Hagbournes Halloween scarecrow trail 23rd-31st October.
  • Chocolate apple dunking at Millets Farm Wednesday 27th – Sunday 31st October. Kids can choose their apple and dip it in the chocolate then decorate with sprinkles. Enjoy some witches brew while you’re there! £3.99 per child. Booking essential.
  • Oxford Castle & Prison Ghost Fest. Spooky tours lasting approx 50 minutes 7-9pm 22nd-31st October. £18pp. Don’t forget to take a torch!
  • Go Batty for Bat’s Halloween trail at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre 25th – 29th October. £3 per child, adults free.10am-2pm daily. Allow 1-1.5 hours to complete the trail. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
