Christmas Day 2016

You may have noticed I’ve had a couple of days break away from the blog to spend time with family and friends over Christmas.  We had a good time, although it was somewhat stressful with our poor puppy Willow being admitted to the vets.

She was kept in for 48hours on a drip and antibiotics after she suddenly fell ill.  Thankfully we had a call at 4pm on Christmas Day to say that she could come home.  She has continued to improve so fingers crossed she is recovering well!

Back to our Christmas celebrations.  We woke on Christmas morning long before the kids who didn’t surface until around 8am (result!).  They had a great time opening their presents from Santa and didn’t seem to notice that Santa had cut back a little (Read about that here: Changing the way we do Christmas).  The favourite gift by far was the Darth Vader RC car Lois received.  Her only request to Santa was for a RC car so this one fitted the bill with our little Star Wars fan perfectly! Everyone has enjoyed having a go on it and I have to say I am pretty impressed with how robust it is. The 3 year old isn’t the best driver in the world!

After getting dressed we had a walk up the road so Cody could try out his new bike.  He currently has a balance bike which he races along on but he is fascinated by Lois’s pedal bike and has been desperate for one of his own.  As you can see in the pic, he is very pleased with it!

We arrived at my parents house and got the whole family involved in a few games of ‘Loopin Chewie’ (check out my post Super Savvy Christmas for the great deal I got on that!).  It’s a fun game that all ages can take part in and enjoy.

Christmas dinner is of course the highlight on Christmas Day in just about every home up and down the country.  Mum did a prawn cocktail starter followed by roast turkey with all the trimmings.  For pudding there was a choice of Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and cream or chocolate gateau.  I opted for the gateau, Christmas pudding is just not my thing!  With all my grandparents, parents, uncle and my own little family all round the table it was a really lovely meal and the food was delicious.  Top marks to the chefs Mum and both my Nans!

After a lovely meal we were sat in the lounge chatting when my phone rang with the vet’s number.  I was worried sick they were going to say that our puppy Willow had taken a turn for the worse.  We were gobsmacked to hear that she was well enough to come home.  Best Christmas present we could have wished for!!  After finishing off opening presents with the family we went to pick Willow up and get her settled in back home. Then I went back to my parent’s house to collect the kids and all their lovely gifts.  Just enough time for some Christmas selfies too of course.
