Alpaca Afternoon Tea

*AD Gifted. We had the pleasure of being invited to Downside Farm to experience their brand new Alpaca Afternoon Tea. Downside Farm is based in Blewbury and is home to alpacas Boris, Ollie and Perry. They share their home with pygmy goats Bonnie and Ronnie who you’ll also get to meet.

The field is set up with picnic benches for you to enjoy your afternoon tea surrounded by wild flowers and of course the alpacas and goats. It’s perfect for families as there is plenty of space for the kids to run around. I’m told they also plan to build a play frame for visitors to enjoy too!

The afternoon tea consists of a variety of sandwiches, scones with jam and fresh clotted cream, plus a selection of delicious cakes.

You have the choice of tea or fruit juice, or you can opt for the prosecco option. The food was all beautifully laid out on China plates and display stands. It was so pretty and such a special treat!

The alpaca were so well behaved. I was worried they might try to eat the food but they have no interest in human food. They are a little nervous about being stroked but love to come right up and touch your face with their nose. They are so gentle and inquisitive.

After we’d finished our afternoon tea we fed the alpacas. They weren’t really interested so with the owners permission we fed the nearby Shetland Pony instead. Please don’t feed any of the animals without checking with the owners first.
